47' Slyder 47
INTRODUCING SLYDER CATAMARANS
Slyder Catamarans is a blend of extraordinary performance, an exceptional construction process, with luxurious accommodations of the highest quality.
Slyder Catamarans is a German registered company (Slyder GmbH) with production facilities in Fano, Italy. While Slyder Catamarans is a new company, the shareholders and engineers are German, Swiss, and Dutch with decades of custom yacht building and management experience.
The creator of Slyder is a Swiss composite engineer with decades of experience in composite construction in various industries such as aircraft, F1 racing, wind turbines, and Italian yacht builders such as Ferretti and Wally Yachts.
The design brief was for a performance cruising catamaran using the latest proven design elements, which could be managed by one couple and sailed by one person, incorporating daggerboards, dual aft helm stations, and a single level cockpit/salon bridgedeck. The fit/finish, hardware, and interior to be of the same level and quality as found on 30 m+ Italian luxury yachts.
The marine architect commissioned to design the Slyder range is a young talented Frenchman by the name of Francois PERUS; who after graduating as a naval architect and engineer worked for such well known multihull designers as Van Peteghem & Laurent Prevost & Christophe Barreau.
- Wave-piercing reverse bows for less weight and improved water-shedding at deck level plus less water turbulence and bow wave below the waterline
- Flat aft hull sections for better planning and less hull immersion
- C-shaped daggerboards for added lift and less pitching (hobby horsing) as well as improved windward making capabilities
- Compressed weight distribution of machinery and tankage plus less hull rocker to further reduce the pitching motion
The sailplan & deck design enables the Slyder 47 to be easily single-handed with a self-tacking Solent of generous size due to the large foretriangle and all mainsail lines led aft below the bridgedeck to a central winch on the cockpit aft crossbeam.
The dual aft helms are linked via a rack & pinion steering system for excellent rudder feedback, redundancy, and true 360° visibility while under sail. The entire bridgedeck (cockpit/salon) is on the same level (no steps) plus well placed handholds for maneuvering to/from the foredeck.

Yachts are a sum of its components and no component is more important than the construction process, not only for meeting the architect’s performance predictions, but also the expectations of the owner regarding longevity and maintenance of his yacht.
Slyder’s composite engineer thinks in grams, not kilos; however while the selection of materials is to save weight it’s never at the expense of structural strength and safety. Slyder always pays attention to longevity which is why there is no exposed core material from a thru hull or deck fitting.
Italy produces the largest number of motor yachts and mega yachts than any other country, by a large margin. Fano, Italy is one region that benefits from a deep pool of craftsmen that are specialized in the various fields of yacht construction. The same artisans working with such well known builders as Benetti, CRN, Ferretti, Pershing, Wally Yachts, and others, are the same that are building Slyder catamarans.
Hull #1 (prototype) was commissioned in April 2015 and hull #s 2, 3, and 4 are currently under construction. Production slots are still available for the second half of 2016.
